Postdoc Mentor - 2025 Center for the Environment Summer Undergraduate Research Program

I served as a Postdoctoral Mentor for the 2025 Center for the Environment Summer Undergraduate Research Program, where I supervised undergraduate student Ellie (Eliana) Hockman on a spatial mapping project examining the climate resilience of Brazil’s Minha Casa Minha Vida (MCMV) affordable housing program. I trained Ellie in GIS analysis using Python, and together we geocoded 3,954 MCMV Faixa 1 housing projects funded between 2009 and 2019 across Brazil. The resulting geocoded dataset is publicly available on Harvard Dataverse, and we developed a dashboard showcasing the data. Using this dataset, we wrote an academic paper comparing the climate resilience of MCMV housing with informal settlements, currently under review at the journal Cities.
